Intensive English

Our Intensive English courses are specially designed to improve your English language skills in a period of six weeks. Their key focus is on empowering our students to communicate effectively in English by engaging with a wide range of authentic meaningful language experiences. The textbook used is the new and highly innovative Keynote, a publication of National Geographic Learning and Cengage learning. Keynote introduces an exciting new component to English language learning in its TED TALKS in which students can interact with authentic presentations given by world renowned respected thinkers and those who wish to share their life-changing stories

In our intensive courses priority is also given to the perfecting of all aspects of our students presentation skills such as; using the power of persuasion, engaging with the audience, being authentic, signposting and being concise. This will be of special benefit to those required to speak publicly either for work in business presentations or for formal assessment of their language skills. As always, we focus on the four key skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking.Our written tasks ensure that students can write formal business letters; formal and informal emails, reports, customer reviews, a curriculum vitae, a description of a system, post advice on a forum and reply to an enquiry. Speaking tasks encourage debate and discussion, talking about jobs and studies, describing trends, introductions and speaking at meetings, evaluating standards of living and quality of life, experiences of travel and various means of communication. Reading tasks include reading authentic Irish Times articles on a wide range of everyday topics. Authentic listening skills are acquired through a variety of listening comprehensions which include; a conference meeting, office conversations, everyday conversations, a job interview, problem solving tasks and phrases in telephoning. On completion of our intensive courses students will be able to communicate confidently and competently in all English speaking environments.

Intensive courses are available at three different levels: Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced.
